I was looking at my Google Docs (where I keep most of my ideas so I don't lose them and have access to them as long as I have internet) and was looking over my plans for Spideyville Unlimited. Lo and behold, the only feature I had written down thus far was for my homie Meuwl. It was mostly so I wouldn't forget that he agreed to do a song with me. Now I never will. Miss you homie.

So I currently have three blogs, Hip-Hop Manifesto!!!: The Blog (imusic), Spideyville Unlimited (my music), and this one (personal). How would you guys feel if I combined my music blog with this one? It would mean there would be more music content then regular content  and I'm afraid it might turn off some of you guys. Thoughts?

So I Kinda Got Track Robbed

So back in January I found this beat on Soundclick. The beat sampled Phyllis Hyman…I went into it back then. Anyway, I really took my time with this song since I was going to use it for Spideyville Unlimited and I really wanted it to be top notch. I wrote the first verse in April and then I finished it in May and I’ve been recording and mixing it trying to get it perfect. I finally get to  point where I figured I would record the vocals and ad-libs one more time to get more emotion and I’d be done with it.

I get on 2DopeBoyz and I see Wale released 2 new songs through his twitter, “Hot Shit” and “Gotta Be Magic”. Guess what “Gotta Be Magic” was? The same beat I found and been working on.

Now, I can’t really be mad. I got the beat when it was up for free download and Wale’s did have a few new sounds in it. I didn’t pay for the beat and I’m sure he did. I’m just upset that what I thought would be a big song on my album has now turned into a song I’ll probably throw on Thunderstorm 2.

I did notice when I first came across this page that it said the name Best Kept Secret (who did a lot of Wale’s The Mixtape About Nothing) but I didn’t think that was really his Soundclick page.

And Chiv thinks its funny. But I don’t think he really liked my track anyway. lmao.

In other news, I just moved to a new place and got the studio set back up again. Hopefully I’ll be back at it before I know it.

Angel said I’ll come up with a better track than the one I lost. I sure hope so.

Scratching My Head

I shoot myself in the foot too much.

So Tune and I made "Champion". And I didn't want to put it out originally. I wanted to sit on it and quietly make Spideyville Unlimited.

Then Hypno leaked it. And everyone that heard it thought is was the best thing I've done so far.

And it made my head a little big.

So Coutz gave me this beat in October saying it was mine exclusively. I listened to it every now and again and eventually I get an idea for it. I decide I'm gonna make a song about my nickname Hip-Hop's Last Hope. The idea was to have me singing the hook in a lullaby type of way (in the role of my mother) and the verses would be me arguing that I have to go save the world despite all of its downfalls.

I do the track.

Now, what I should do is sit on it until the mixtape is done. Tweak what needs tweaked. The hard thing about that is with The Mind's Mixtape volume Three, I had E, Chiv, and Angel to run tracks by before I even considered them done.

I'm doing SU by myself. At least that's the plan.

What I really do is send the song to Coutz, Chiv, E, MI, and the WVRapScene message boards so I can get feedback on it. Because I as so hyped by the response to "Champion" I knew people would think this was just as hot. Cue the ego trip. lol.

The feedback has been lukewarm at best.

So just to reiterate, I really would like to keep SU under wraps until all 14 tracks are completed. Really. I just hope my ego and my need for attention will allow that to happen.

Tomorrow I'm off so I think I'll mess around with some joints for No Sleep Till Tucson to get myself in the right frame of mind. Singing Ass Willie is supposed to call me and maybe we can rework the new track into something bigger and better. Or come up with something else.

Anyway, back to battle with my sensitive inner rapper. Bucks tonight for Nah Nitti and the Johnny Harmonic homecoming.

5K.

So when I last got to sit down and talk to E, he told me he wanted me to start working on original material. Which threw me off since I had about 6 concepts for my next mixtape, Spideyville Unlimited, over industry beats.

So I thought I would just do a few original songs and still have industry joints on the mixtape, but I didn't think that's what he wanted. So I was stuck. Finding new beats for my previous concepts wasn't going well and I was afraid this would push my next release back.

I'm not ready to make Soon You'll Understand yet. SYU has been the planned title for my first album for about 7 years now. I'll know when I'm ready to make SYU. And I don't think I'm ready. I know my destination, I'm just not there. (c) Kanye. lol.

Then I realized I could take a page from Joe Budden. Mood Muzik 2 & 3 are original mixtapes. Might as well be albums. Thus SU is now going be all original production. But I still couldn't find any fire beats. Short of buying them that is. I'm a broke rapper. lol.

So Angel and I head to Martinsburg, WV to see my homie DJ Hypnotic, his girl, and their new baby. We hang out with them all day and as it gets later, Hypno says his boy Tune is coming over to record and I should drop something. Since I knew my mom was waiting for me back in Winchester, VA, I wasn't to sure.

Tune shows up and I think him and Hypno were going to be re-recording tracks for his upcoming mixtape Mr. Popular (plug). Hypno says instead we should pick out a beat, write, and record on the spot. Some real collaboration shit. We listen to about 5 joints and then we hear the right joint. Tune goes off of the beats title and begins to form a hook. He knocks out the first 4 bars. Hypno and I urge him to repeat a line from the last bar and he fills out the next 4. Hook done. I start writing my verse. 20 to 25 minutes and it's written. Recorded in about 15 minutes (ab-libs took the longest). Tune finishes his verse. Recorded in about 20 minutes. I use my Audition skills to line up the hook after the first and second verses...

...Champion is born. This will be appearing on Mr. Popular and SU. It came out so well that it got me in the right groove to record SU. Talks of a video is in the works. The feedback has been positive.

I might have my first hit.

"Swagger Like Us" won't be on SU now. It'll be on No Sleep Till Tucson. I'll get into that when the time comes closer.

I could get into more detail about Spideyville Unlimited but I want everything to be a surprise for the day it drops. This may be all you hear until it's released.

You can check out Tune's myspace (his music is on there right now) at http://www.myspace.com/tunesmusicpage.

I also posted this on my myspace.

Yeah so tonight I was scheduled to perform at 123 for the WVU Young Democrats show called Party For America. I'm super amped to be involved with something like this so I make my set about 50 some minutes and I'm all hyped up.

I get there about 9:10. Supposed to start at 9. First mistake (no black jokes either! lol). Cortez is there but he has to set up his tables. 9:20. The he spins some stuff to get in the groove of thing. 9:25. I'm on.

This would have to be my worst performance in awhile. I just wasn't in the moment I suppose. I started with "PSA" but it was really too slow. "Best Fall Back" was better. "Death Before Dishonor Part 2" was good. "Come Out Swinging" was cool until Strizy messed up on the tables and threw me off and I did the third verse second and the second verse third. I skipped "Feelin' So Good". Mistake. "Gun To My Head" started out good but I messed up the second verse and we killed it. I never perform it. "Ain't Right" was okay except for me stumbling over the actual track so I could say my Obama line. Then I think "Demon In The Bottle" was next and that was so so. And then...my set was over so the next band could go on.

I squandered a great opportunity to get new fans since a lot of the people there weren't typical hip-hop fans. But I blew it. I blame myself for being late tho and for trying to do too much. I should have stuck with what I know.

As for "Swagger Like Us", I really like it but I don't think anyone else is too impressed with it. No one commented on it on lj or facebook. Chiv said he enjoyed it (which doesn't sound that great lol), E said it was okay and Johnathan said it was a good track. So I don't know. I'm about to put it on myspace and post it on wvrapscene and see what happens. But I'm getting the same feeling about "Swagger" as I had about "J's And Nikes". I really like it but I don't know if it'll make the final cut of the new mixtape. We'll see.

After 6 performed at midnight, the whole crew headed to Rain and Octane to see Moose and Sean respectively. MI dropped me off. Now here I am.

Angel will be here around 7 this evening with all her stuff from Keyser which means she'll finally be moved in! So that's one thing I can look forward to. I work all weekend tho and I'm probably gonna miss another Soundvizion video shoot tonight.

So yeah, I'm gonna twitter, check facebook, and go to bed. Until later.

EDIT: Myspace rejected my "Swagger" upload for copyright reasons! WTF?!

I just finished up a new song, the first one off of my new mixtape SPIDEYVILLE UNLIMITED (Yeah I know I'm a geek). It's over T.I.'s "Swagger Like Us" beat and it goes by the same title. It's not edited for those of you who may want to give it a quick listen at work. But I hope to have the mixtape ready to go by November and start recording my debut album shortly after. So, without further ado:
