Episode Sixty-Seven: BEHIND THE DUEL OF MARY LOU, THE LITTLE GIRL WHO BURNT SATAN'S CLAW

It's become a tradition--around Halloween, The Boys Outta Brooklyn always pick three horror films you might not have considered when planning your movie marathons for the spookiest holiday of all...and now that tradition comes to Earth-2.net! Derrick chooses three films from the 70's including one of Steven Spielberg's first and a creepy guignol tale featuring a young Jodie Foster, and Tom chooses such gems as a high school ghost story and a 'documentary' that follows an aspiring serial killer as he plans his night of grue! It's a six-pack of sinister ideas--plus some suggestions for a second feature to make those choices even more fun--so get to clicking!

Episode Sixty-Six: DIRECTOR'S COURT--THE CASE OF QUENTIN TARANTINO

It's the first segment of Director's Court, where the Guys Outta Brooklyn put famous filmmakers before the court of public opinion and decide whether they're still valid...or funneling down the drain. This time up, it's QT himself who's under the microscope. Tom and Derrick examine Tarantino's use of cultural touchstones, whether some of his set pieces are homages or rip-off, whether his frequent appearances have served to sour the public separate from the films themselves, and other outstanding issues revolving around the man who made being a film geek cool. Plus we review Inglorious Basterds and make suggestions as to what Tarantino should pursue for future projects. It'll get medieval on you ass, so get to clicking!

Jordan and Kobe
[info]bhyphen
It's time for the final leg of our tour through the Bond films with the
first half of the tenure of Pierce Brosnan. The Boys Outta Brooklyn
argue that the Brosnan films represen...ted a hard reboot that pre-dated
the Craig reboot years later, and examine a great debut picture and a
lousy, lousy follow-up. We also discuss how the loss of the lawsuit
with MGM-UA affected how the Brosnan films were written and produced,
the value of fresh directorial blood, and a flaw in 'The Commentary
Script.' Plus Tom likes Michelle Yeoh...a lot..., the revelation of the
Peckinpah-Bond connection, and Derrick talks about his nominee for
worst Bond henchman. We are Inwincable, so get to clicking!

Victory Jumpoff Radio – Show #2: DJ Strizy’s Michael Jackson Tribute Mix
Jordan and Kobe
[info]bhyphen

Once I heard the news about Michael’s passing, I immediately thought about doing a tribute episode. But considering how unsuccessful I’ve been with trying to get out the Slaughterhouse show or Chiv’s mini-mix, it’s a good thing my good friend DJ Strizy immediately went to his turntables and did this MJ Tribute Mix in one take. He was kind enough to let me use his mix for my second official show. So enjoy, and I really promise I have new episodes coming.

Tom and Derrick team up with their Hip Hop Maestro, Kelen 'B Hyphen' Conley as they discuss one of Brooklyn's favorite filmmaking sons, Spike Lee! Join the trio as they discuss a quintet of Spike's films, from the seminal dramedy Do The Right Thing to the utterly savage satire Bamboozled and the controversial relationship dramas She's Gotta Have It and Jungle Fever. Plus Tom and Kelen commiserate over the present fate of the Oakland Raiders, Derrick recognizes his co-host as The Blue-Eyed White Devil and Kelen tries to explain how he wouldn't make out with Sasha Grey! It's time to wake up, so get to clicking!

I was checking out the latest episode of Better In The Dark and Tom mentioned that the James Bond podcast, For Your Ears Only had recorded their own version of the BITD Theme song. Of course I tracked it down and it’s amazing. Here it is for everyone’s enjoyment. For the full episode, check them out at the shiny link.

Hip-Hop Manifesto!!!: The Podcast – Episode 5: Album Vs. Album #1 – Reasonable Doubt
J.D. and Cox
[info]bhyphen

I realize now that the “guessing” part I added with Nas’ section was not needed since I included the episode description. lol. After going through Nas’ sophomore album we jump right into Jay’s first. Unfair? Slightly. But Illmatic and Reasonable Doubt were two different eras. This comparison is way closer then the one I just mentioned.

Chiv and I continue our first "Album Vs. Album" series. In this first installment, we put former foes Nas and Jay-Z against each other once again as we compare the albums they released in 1996. Chiv explains how he completely ignores "Feelin' It", I take Jay-Z to task over whether "22 Two's" really came off the top of his head or if he wrote it down, and we end things on a somber note as we both "Regret(s)" doing this part of the episode in the first place. Get your Super Mean Pimp on and start listening!

Last Thursday April 23rd was the one year anniversary of Hip-Hop Manifesto!!!: The Blog and April 28th marked the one year anniversary of HHM!!!: The Podcast! To celebrate Chiv and I got together, played some Mario Kart Wii, and listened to Nas’ second album for our first ever Album Vs. Album episode.

Chiv and I begin our "Album Vs. Album" series where we take two albums, break each one of them down and then decide the overall winner. In this first installment, we put former foes Nas and Jay-Z against each other once again as we compare the albums they released in 1996. Be ready as I reveal I have 2Pac on speed dial, Chiv asks Foxy Brown questions she can't hear, and we both cower in fear at the phrase "Nas Is Coming"! As Diddy would say, "Let's go people!"

I told you this was a long episode. But I didn't think you'd have the patience to listen to us talk for two hours. Yet. lol. So without further ado...

And we're back! Chiv and Hyphen finish off their two hour long conversation about their favorite hip-hop music of 2008! In this hour, Chiv talks about Murs For President and The Million Dollar Backpack while Hyphen goes in on Paper Trail and 808s & Heartbreak! And as an added bonus if you call now, they'll even throw in honorable mentions and disappointing albums!

Hip-Hop Manifesto!!!: The Podcast - Episode 3: The Best Of 2008 Part 2

Now let's hope it's not 8 months before the next episode.

Not a dream! We actually did a new episode. And it was so long we had to make it into two episodes! Instead of talking about the eras of hip-hop (which will get done) we sat down and talked about our favorite music on 2008. Best episode ever! lmao.

Just when you thought they had given up, BEHOLD! The return of Chivalry and B Hyphen aka Hip-Hop Manifesto!!!: The Podcast! After a 7 month layoff, the guys got together on New Year's Eve to recap their favorite music of 2008 by picking 5 albums or mixtapes that they couldn't get enough of. This is part one so go to Episode 3 immediately after you finish this one. Happy 2009!

Any ideas for my first episode of Spideyville: The Clone Saga? The only thing I won't talk about is music because I have two other podcasts for that. lol.

Making French Toast
Jedi Dwight
[info]bhyphen

I've never made it before. lol. It's not coming along too bad.

So I DJ-ed my last show on the Urban Diner. It was just time to go. The Diner never had the ambitious director it deserved and I was always too busy. More often than not, we got stuck with DJs who weren't consistent with their shifts. There was no promotion. No fanbase other than the FCI inmates and their family who called in to do shoutouts. And Kwame left. And E left. And I found myself really bored with the shift.

Hopefully there will be some new DJs that will come and take the Diner out of its rut. Someone who will care enough about the music to make the show relevant again. We'll see.

I'm going to be starting my own internet/radio podcast soon tho, Victory Jumpoff Radio. This way I can play whatever I want, run things how I want and listeners can download and listen whenever they want.

And I'll also be starting a new solo podcast as well. Spideyville: The Clone Saga. This podcast will be wide open. Whatever I feel like rambling about will be the topic. I called it The Clone Saga because I have a feeling I might run a bit long on certain subjects, so it's a warning of what's to come. lol.

I need to work on my french toast skills. lol. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Oh well.

I have some errands to run today but besides that I'm off. Guess I'll go find something to get into.

R.I.P. Juan Epstein (The Podcast Not The Actor)
Raphael
[info]bhyphen
So Juan Epstein is my favorite podcast after Better In The Dark. It's done by these two DJs out of New York on Hot 97 named Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg. The other day they got Latarian Milton, the 7 year old who stole his grandmother's car and wrecked it, on their podcast.

According to what I heard, Cipha said he would buy Latarian a Wii. But apparently, Rosenberg said he would go half on the Wii or a present for Latarian.

Now Rosenberg doesn't want to go half on a Wii for various reasons.

Cipha is mad and says he's not doing anything but the morning show with Rosenberg anymore.

So no more Juan Epstein!

I don't know what the fuck happened, I don't care, but to lose one of my podcasts over a damn video game is stupid.

I'll give Latarian my Wii.

Sike.

But I see both sides of the argument. I just hope it gets resolved.

Listening to Mickey Factz' new mixtape. WOW.

Pretty average day today. It rained.

I was walking matter of fact and I saw this car pull up real slow behind me. So I figured I knew who it was. Nope. I paused my ipod and turned around. This guy asked me where I was heading and I told him just down the street. He said okay and said something along the lines that he was going to give me a ride if I needed it. I thanked him and declined and he went down the road.

Now...I looked myself over. Cargo shorts, WVU hoodie, Jordan 14's. I didn't look like I needed help.

So this guy was actually asking if I wanted a ride out of the goodness of his heart or he had weird intentions.

For a 25 year old. lol.

I'm going with good intentions.

Then I asked myself if I would have stopped for joe schmoe on the street in the rain.

Doubtful.

Than a couple bars came in my head. Then a song title.

We'll see if it goes any further.

I put the first real posts on HHM!!!: The Blog that I'm truly proud of in awhile...http://www.hiphopmanifesto.org

Got the new Better In The Dark finally.

Caught up on all the Angry Video Game Nerd episodes I missed last night.

Messed with that Mugen program most of the night. Now I'm over it. lol.

I guess today was more eventful than I thought...

Life As A Blogger Sucks...
Ghostbusters
[info]bhyphen
Because I should be doing it more. I'm gonna try to have at least one post a day from now where I actually type something from here until 2009. Not too difficult a task right? Weekends don't count tho. lol.

Went to FallFest last night, which is WVU's big welcome back concert they have every year. Lupe Fiasco was here and he KILLED it. Matt and I weren't in the best spots ever but I saw the whole show thanks to the huge video screen. I studied his show a lot too. Anytime I can soak up some knowledge that's going to make my stage show better, I'll take it.

I've now seen live:
Jay-Z
R. Kelly
Kanye West
Usher
Talib Kweli
Common (for 10 minutes. Stupid thunderstorm!)
Lupe Fiasco
Black Eyed Peas
The Roots
Pete Rock (DJ)
Fatman Scoop (DJ)
Redman
Boot Camp Clik
Memphis Bleek, Freeway, Young Gunz (they all came out during Jay's set, so they count. lol.)

Back in school. Day 2 went fine. Now I just have to get through one more year and a few summer classes and I'm done. Really.

Music is kinda at a standstill. I haven't done a new song since I did a song for DJ Coutz' album. I redesigned my myspace tho. lol. You can check it out at http://www.myspace.com/spideyville and you can also listen to or download The Mind's Mixtape volume Three there. The good news is I've never been more comfortable on stage and my live show is the best it's ever been. I really feel I'm starting to come into my own there.

Matt and I's blog is in the middle of reconstruction. I got a little too happy with trying to post every single new song that came out and I found myself dedicating 5 hours of a recent Saturday just to updating the blog with 2 weeks worth of missed tracks. So I'm reconstructing the site back into form that Matt and I originally invisioned. Johnathan also joined the site as a contributor but he has yet to contribute. lol. You can check that out at http://www.hiphopmanifesto.org. We'll also have the new episode of the podcast soon too.

I have an update I need to do for Marvel Anthology. It's only two issues but anything new is always welcome. I have three issues of Robin I'm about to turn in at DCA. My first issues in over a year and a half. I'm a great writer by the way. lol.

I'm going to be redesigning B Hyphen.com again. lol. I can't find something that I truly like enough to leave it there. But I got some ideas, hopefully something good will come of it.

I also plan on continuing and finishing my Behind The Music series for The Mind's Mixtape volume II and The Thunderstorm Mixtape. Then I can do the one for volume Three. I wanted to start on volume Three but I didn't think it was right to skip two mixtapes.

For now tho, I think that covers all the bases. Here's two facebook photo galleries from my last two shows.
