Starting off with Gambit: Remy is left home alone, so what does any good member of the Thieve's Guild do when left unsupervised with an itch to hit The Big Easy? Why steal things, of course. But as Remy will learn unsupervised doesn't necessarily mean unwatched as he sneaks about the town. And on the other side of town the two most powerful figures of the two Guilds sit down and discuss the future of their tattered groups.

Over in New X-Men the students of the Xavier Institute for Highter Learning are restless after stumbling upon a drug ring around campus that gives the users superpowers. Instilled with a duty to protect his fellow students Thomas Sheppard pulls together a team to operate under the noses of their supervisors...but how successful can they be when their supervisors are amongst the most powerful telepaths on the planet and one of those telepaths is a soldier who's used to seeing through sneaky tactics?

Meanwhile in Uncanny X-Men the Russian leader of the new Kremlin Defense Force, Colonel Vazhin, drops a colossal bomb on the X-Men when he reveals that an X-Man thought long dead is actually alive and mindlessly roaming the Russian wilderness. But the X-Men aren't the only group on the hunt to claim the legendary X-Man as Weapon X races against the heroes to get to him first.

Pietro grows fanatical in his desire to hunt down and capture Exodus in X-Factor as he jockeys for position and power to ensure that Genosha remains safe and stable by creating the first steps of his plan that will result in the creation of The Genosha Compact. What is this Genosha Compact? Well, it's a question that Emma Frost wants answered at any means necessary, and Pietro's actions to seeing this come to fruition may put him at odds right off the bat with Polaris and the brand new X-Factor!

And finally in X-Force the team experiences a quiet moment...okay, maybe not as what began as a game of skill between Pipeline and Abyss leads to a full on smackdown between two of the most dominant and opinionated women on the team. Havok and Emma verbally play a tug of war over the control of the secret team, Madrox, Shatterstar and Blind Faith share a disagreement of words and other forces outside of their walls align against them as Ahab and the Hounds come crashing down upon them. And the reason behind Emma and Alex's problems, the Genegineer continues his freakish experiments.

I have now included on the front page of MA the showcase spot for the Fifty States Initiative. Just like our sister site DCA with JLU and DCI, we are cross promoting with Altered Visions and FSI to help spread the word of the great work being done across the community. You'll also see the 3 titles we're showcasing for the site that cover content MA currently doesn't have or explore a direction and characters we're currently not.

So, go read some fanfic!!

"May I Introduce the President" Part Two

Sorry for the delay this month but between conferences and hospitals we've been held up for a little bit. It's for that reason why there will only be one update for this month.

In Astonishing X-Men Scott, Jean and Bobby have a meet at City Hall to discuss plans for the future of the cities mutant population and while they're occupied Warp Savant strikes Island X for both pleasure and profit. Can Sunfire and Firestar hold off Savant long enough for the rest of the team to show up or will he bring the entire island down on their heads?

Thanks to the Power Prism the Incredible Hulk has been split into several Hulk's all based on different aspects of Banner's emotions and personality No two Hulk's are alike. In Hulk: Spectrum #1 we explore the first of these new Hulks as the Lord of the Savage Land is called in to help aide a group of construction workers against the rampage of the Orange Hulk! Who is this Orange Hulk and why is he deep in the middle of the Amazon?

In Ka-Zar Lord Plunder awakes to find himself in the center of the Savage Land...but it's entirely unrecognizable as it appears to Ka-Zar the Savage Land has been reassembled in a mismatched patchwork! Fortunately for Ka-Zar his brother Zabu is by his side to help find the answers they seek about whom is behind the attack on his home. The answers they find may shock Ka-Zar but he's anything if illprepared to deal with them head-on.

And in X-Factor Pietro's powerbase is solidified and he's now the official ruler of the impoverished nation of Genosha. But it's hardly the beginning for the son of the late Lord of Magnetism as he must now deal with the daunting task of apprehending Exodus and those that threaten to destablize the already weak structure of his country. If that's not enough the team he wants to protect Genosha and find Exodus is still being put together...

So, with that...go read some fanfic!

In Exiles #3 the Exiles are sent to Earth 170983 to find and protect a girl who has the power to save the entire planet from these odd shadow beasts that have replaced all of the high profile heroes and villains, and nobody knows where these superpowered people have disappeared to. In the Crystal Palace Axel Asher awakens in terrible fear of the thing that sent him crashing through the multiverse and the manic traveller drops a truth bomb on Heather that she's not happy to hear. Too bad the revelation is the least of her problems. And the Exiles have their hands full with the being behind the replacements.

Remy is up and out of bed in Gambit #14 but still not a 100% recovered. But the city of New Orleans isn't kind enough to stop business in lue of Remy's downtime as the Antiquary has an encounter with a man who's interference in New Orleans poses a problem with him. Meanwhile, New Son has his own issues with the Antiquary and his interference with his plans.

In Uncanny X-Men #3 the X-Men have a meeting that's anything far from peaceful with Sebastian Shaw to learn the terrible secrets of Project: Glimmer. The Amazon continues to be a hot-bed of activity as Logan, Siryn and Storm work to protect Logan's children from Weapon X. Those who screw with his kids should learn a lesson from this, too bad Victor's never learned a damn thing in his life.

Genosha has a new leader now that Magneto has died: President Pietro Maximoff, his son, has claimed the right to rule and in X-Factor #1 he cements that claim with the full backing of the X-Men. The island nation is on the cusp of prosperity, but the peace is fragile and created under the guidance of Polaris to protect the interest of the infant government is X-Factor, Genosha's first sanctioned mutant team. Witness the birth of a new nation and those brought together to protect in "May I Introduce the President".

X-Men: The Stranger #4 concludes the flash-back tale of the original X-Men and the simpler times they lived in. The truth is revealed about their mysterious student, Adam Lucas, and why he was expelled from the school so suddenly, to the shock of the X-Men.

In X-Men Unlimited #2 we're given a glance at Emma Frost's and Xavier's relationship as Emma has to deal with her estranged brother, and Charles struggles with Emma's reaction to the meeting he wants with her after being freed from the asylum he was damned to live in years ago.

It's pretty full update of mutant goodness. So, get on your ass and spend about 2 hours reading all of these issues and everything else we've got to offer!

"So Savage, This Land"

· New X-Men #1, by J.D. Mathis

"Deadly Deals" Part Five

Gambit #13 The war is over and the streets of New Orleans are quiet once more. But the inner circles of the Guilds are far from quiet as Jacques deals with the fallout from his brothers fight with Bella Donna. And the Assassin's discuss the future of both guilds as Bella Donna's revelation to the Council could be the last step in reuniting the Assassins and Thieves permanently.

In Infinity #3 Thanos is dead. Adam Warlock and Gamora must investigate the circumstances that lead to the death-worshipping God's demise...and possibly to the being that did it. Meanwhile, the rest of the team investigate the genocide of the Cotati and the answers they get come from the person they least expected to find.

In Ka-Zar #1 acre-wide patches of the Savage Land are being stripped of all life by a force of unknown origin, but you can be damned sure that Ka-Zar and Zabu are determined to figure out who is behind the apparent destruction of their home and why they're doing it. Of course the timing couldn't be worse for Ka-Zar to learn of other intruders onto his land and is forced to come to their rescue in a truly brutal fight against a pack of hungry Velociraptors.

School is in session in New X-Men #1. Operating in the background of the Uncanny X-Men and without the knowledge of their teachers a group of students form their own team to protect themselves and other students from off campus influences that can destroy them. How long can these students hide their activity from their teachers? I guess only time will tell.

In X-Force #5 The situation in Russia gets tense when the meeting between Mikhail and Adel finally happens and the other players involved in the bid for the stolen Phalanx show up. This isn't Alex's first go-around in shady situations, but none have ever carried such important consequences before if he should botch this up and risk exposing X-Force's existance to the world.

This is a big summer planned for Marvel Anthology as I plan to hopefully carry 2 updates a month into September. Most of this is due to the big additions we've made to the site with Captain America, Daredevil, Darkhawk, Force Works, Heroes For Hire, Inferno, Iron Man, Master of Kung-Fu, Scarlet Spider, Solo Avengers and Scarlet Spider. You can check out who these books are by by heading over to the website and finding out on the Titles page.

So, what the Hell are you waiting for? Go read some fanfic for Christ's sake!

Well, the update I almost didn't think was going to happen is done! I managed to get the PC back onto the net just a few hours ago. I didn't fix ALL of my problems, but the bigger ones have been taken care of. Now, if I could just get SATA 2 to get found I'd be gold...but hey, this isn't my LJ so enough of this palaver, let's get the show on the road.

Exiles #2, brings the Exiles to New York City. That's right, the Big Apple. And to this group of multi-reality, hard travelling heroes the city will only get bigger. Who ever said that size doesn't matter never said it from the stomach of a swallow. No, not coconut carrying swallows. The Exile's confusion gets compounded when they meet up with the Avengers. So, how will these two action-figure sized groups save the day? If a certain turncoat in their midst has anything to say about it, they won't!

Gambit #8-9, these two issues are the lead up to a Guild War that will turn the city red with blood. In #8 Carl Denti, the Xcutioner, travels to the Big Easy to investigate a string of odd murders. Though, as anybody can tell you nothing is exactly normal in New Orleans as it is. #9 takes things to the boiling point as both sides take up their positions to deal with the inevitable backlash of Remy's return to the city that nobody wanted to see him come back to.

Tales to Astonish #3, Hannibal King gets deeper into the muck of the case of two ghosts that are haunting a small town in Upstate New York. Even for a Vampire there are things scary enough to make their hearts skip a beat...if they had hearts that beat, that is.

Uncanny X-Men #2, Sebastian Shaw's mysterious plans have attracted the attention of the X-Men, and unfortunately for Victor Creed and the others of his small band of mutants from Weapon X have attracted Logan's attention. But, hey, when you kidnapp a fella's kids what would you think would happen? Yep, a lot of violence.

X-Force #4, Havok has finally gained an audience with Mikhail Rasputin only to learn that his mission has now gotten a little more dangerous for him and his troupe in Russia. Of course, I think even he would prefer his mission when compared to those left behind at Muir Island having to deal with a very pissed off Selene, who didn't take to having her apartment broken into lightly. You would think a face-full of pointy objects would help settle the matter, but apparently it only makes it worse. Go fig.

So, after all this I think it'd be a very good idea to go read from fanfic for Christ's sake!

The X-Men update is here! For those living under a rock each of the three main X-Books launched today will explore the X-Men in three very different lights, while aware of the larger world they continue to share.

In Astonishing X-Men the team defends their new home of Chicago for the first time from an enigmatic wanna-be supervillain who's gotten his hands on things he has no business having. The question now lingers in where did this wanna-be get his gear? How will Chicago accept this group of mutants that are protecting their city, and will the X-Men be ready for their reaction? The X-Men march boldly into uncharted territory where they're no longer regarded as objects of scorn, but as celebrities.

In Uncanny X-Men the schools have reopened and are admitting a record number of students in the wake of prosperity and peace following X-Men: Alpha. Taking advantage of the increased attention Cable and Ororo have begun an aggressive recruitment drive to draw in more young mutants in need of a home and training, and something happens during one of these drives that could spell doom for Jonothan Starsmore. And if that wasn't enough looming doom for you, then wait 'till you see what the Hellfire Club is up to.

In X-Force, the most aggressive book of the 3, Havok gets his team ready for a pair of dangerous missions. The team is forced to split their efforts between Russia and France as they chase the threats that threaten to destroy the progress made by Xavier. Not everybody is pleased with their mission, however, and isn't afraid to voice their opinion.

And X-Men Unlimited picks up directly where X-Men: Alpha ended to introduce a powerful new threat named Sekhmet. Maverick and Moon Knight find themselves clearly outmatched and chilled to their cores when they learn of Sekhmet's origin and her deadly secret. She's not pleased to find that the world has changed and she intends to take out her anger upon all of the mutants that changed it.

If you're down for reading four very excellent issues - and I don't say that just because it's the thing to say to attract you to these books, because I really mean it - that induvidually take their own fresh look upon the world then these are the issues you've been looking for.

So, go read some fanfic for Christ's sake!!

Marvel Anthology is back with six solid issues, including the Giant-Sized X-Men: Alpha. The purpose of X-Men: Alpha is simple: we wanted to establish, in one issue and place, everything you will need to know about the direction MA is taking the X-Men Universe. X-Men: Alpha establishes where MA has broken from Marvel 616's continuity and creates a foundation that will prepare you for the launch of four brand spankin' new X-Men Titles: Astonishing X-Men, by Dino Pollard; Uncanny X-Men, by Tony Thornley; X-Force, by Brent Lambert and the anthology book X-Men Unlimited, by Clayton Tooley. We hope this book will serve as the anchor to these books, that from here each book will read as a part of a whole, and while you can surely read each book seperately at your leisure and satisfaction that taken as a whole a bigger picture becomes clear. Each book will always have this book in common, and you can learn about all of them from here.

Given the direction we, as a site, wanted to take it made sense to approach it this way and hopefully create a world view as we went. The goal here was to try and inform readers. Give them the choice to either read one future title and ignore the other two, or entice them to read ALL of the books with an interest to know where this whole thing was going. Don't fret though, our direction isn't totally detached from what it's known for. Uncanny X-Men will explore the X-Men in a more traditional view, Astonishing X-Men will explore the X-Men in a much more radical view where mutants can be celebrities, X-Force will explore the X-Men in a very dark, dangerous view, and X-Men Unlimited will serve as a catch all for random tales that either impact the X-Men Universe or not.

There are a few #1's in this update too. Tobias Christopher returns to the Fantastic Four with Jason Bruss to bring MA tales of villainy and exploration in ways only the first family of Marvel can do. Tales to Astonish is an anthology title that'll focus mainly on non-continuity tales, but continuity tales are naturally welcome, where those random stories that're floating around in your head can find a home. Gambit returns and Remy finds out that while you can go home again, there are those who'd rather see you dead than back in the Big Easy.

So, go read some fanfiction for Christ's sake!!
