This is long overdue. I should put this out shortly after Show #1 but I delayed it, thinking I would get to it. Then Michael died. Then I threw away the Slaughterhouse show. Then I took it to Baseline for a show. And finally, in 2010, I bring you a mix from early 2009! lol. In all honesty, Chiv (yes of Hip-Hop Manifesto fame) bought himself some turntables and threw together a little mix of the songs he was feeling at the time. So without further ado, I give you, "Chiv On The Tables"!

1. Jadakiss - Child Abuse
2. Consequence - Hottest In The Hood
3. DJ Monstalung - Dopeboyz (Feat. 6'6 240, K Kutta, & Cookiehead jenkins)
4. Capone N Noreaga - Grand Royal
5. Joell Ortiz - Covering The Classics
6. Chuck L.I. - Dynomite
7. Mic Legacy - Radio (Feat.Skyzoo)

Before I get to the rest of the update I would like to direct everybody to the 2009 Year In Review found here (http://ma.bhyphen.com/2009yir.html) to get caught up on every book on site that had a release in 2008 through 2009. You can check it out all at once or visit the front page of Marvel Anthology where you can find links pointing to specific review for a specific title. Or start from the list you see below. Clayton and Brent did a fantastic job of splitting the site up evenly and tackling each title objectively and thoroughly.

Also, you can now check out the Archive section of MA to find MARVEL DARK LORE. There are currently 19 books on site from MDL with 126 issues to them. It's only about half of what MDL offers, but it was just too much to put up and tackle all at once. So, I'm gonna ride out what I have for about 6 months and then add the rest later. I wanna comment about the overwhelming support I've received from the guys I've been in contact with from MDL and my appreciation for their permission to restore their work (that most of them haven't seen in several years) as I attempt to reassemble what I believe to be the most current and complete version of the site found in Wayback. So far the only books you won't see added is Daredevil as Nate will mine certain subplots from that book to fit into his upcoming DD series here and Darkhold: Book of Sins. I only managed to format a few issues so until I do get around to formatting them all I simply copied the originals over and put them up. 126 issues was a lot to do.

We take a trip to Canada in Alpha Flight where we see the nations premier fighting force fighting to hold their fragile team together admist the loss of Snowbird and Shaman and all the tension, fighting and the tangle web of love triangles. How will a team that doesn't even like each other hope to protect a country that has asked them to once again stand in front of danger with the damocles sword of betrayal swinging over their heads?

In Spider-Man we take a jump 90 days later. Spider-Man teams up with the Green Goblin to prevent what has to be the most common event in New York City history. It's a wonder why people don't just hide their money in a bag under their matress, it'd be a hell of a lot safer. But the Green Goblin isn't the only one of Spidey's entourage to appear on scene. Mary Jane also makes her return to not only Broadway, but to Peter's life.

In Gambit the Ragin' Cajun finds himself in a most compromising position at the mercy of The Antiquary. The Thieve's have mounted a one man rescue operation, but does Gambit even need it or does he have the ancient man exactly where he wants him?

Over in Uncanny X-Men the team is called together by the newly formed X.S.E. to investigate the kidnapping of a young mutant by a monster that Chamber has more intimate experience dealing with than he's comfortable to relive. Back in Salem Center the mutant Colossus struggles to adapt to life with his former family.

And New York is thrust into chaos once again in Yellowjacket as a weird virus spreads across the city transforming the citizens into weird monsterous creatures and the only hope they have lies in the hands of Hank Pym! Seriously! Even Reed Richards is powerless to halt the devastating effects of the virus.

So, go read some fanfic!

Well, to continue the Holiday trend Marvel Anthology brings to you the last update of the year. It's been a good year for MA and I want to thank all of our guys, on behalf of the other EiC's, for all of their hard work in getting MA back off the ground with a kick ass 12 months of solid production both on paper and intellectually with the discussions on the boards. I also want to thank all of the people who've read our work and we hope that in 2010 we raise the bar for ourselves a little bit more and keep you entertained a little bit more too. And now, onto the issues:

In Captain America the President is still missing and Steve Rogers is prepared to turn the entire world upside down to find him. Too bad the man he's looking for isn't really the man he's looking for. With the Chameleon, who's been posing as the President for who knows how long, in the clutches of the stunned Serpeant Society they stumble upon a conspiracy that's been in motion months before...and they take full advantage of it. Will Steve find out what's going on in time to find the real President, or will the Serpeant Society force time to run out for our Sentinel of Liberty?

Meanwhile, in Gambit, down in the Big Easy the Ragin' Cajun has an unexpected dinner date with The Antiquary and the old man reveals to Gambit his lost history. The real surprise, however, comes when Remy asks what's for desert...and finds that what's on the menu isn't to his taste!

Speaking of a man who has a particular taste in Midnight Sons Dr. Michael Morbius is finally introduced to the organization that sent Simon Stroud to escort him to the meeting and finds their offer very much to his liking. Over in Venice Dracula continues to evade the hordes of The Prince, but vampire hunter Blade isn't as lucky...as if he knew how to run away from a fight with overwelming odds, anyway. And Modred continues his bloody hunt for the Book of Sins and tears apart those that stand in his way.

Next we continue our journey into foriegn lands with the launch of Winter Guard. The political agenda of the still struggling democratic nation must be protected at all costs and charged with that mission to defend the fragile Russia is Natasha Romanova, the Black Widow, and the Winter Guard. Pulled together by Colonel Vazhin, of the newly formed Kremlin Defense Force, the Winter Guards first obstacle may be themselves!

And lastly, in X-Force, the mutant hunter Ahab and M face off as Havoc and the others battle Ahab's deadly hounds. It's a battle that leaves a few of X-Force physically wounded and Havoc's pride bruised.

And, there we have it. A few things to point out: You'll see that MA's issues are reformatted to help making reading them easier on the screen. I could see how the smaller text could make some eyes strain, so I made them all just a little bigger. Also, some of the logo's were updated and while I didn't update all I wanted today I will go through and finish them up soon. Not all of them will change, but I'm just not happy with leaving things as they are too long.

So, with that said, what the Hell are you waiting for? Go read some fanfic!!

Sorry for taking 3 days to make the announcement. It's been a busy week and I took longer than I wanted to get the update done, so I pounded that out as quickly as I could. Anyway, without further delay --

In Spider-Man it's the second showdown between Morlun and Spider-Man as the villain takes Spider-Man to his limit. Can Peter save Ben Urich from Morlun's grasp? What does the future have in store for Peter if he can overcome this very deadly test? Check out the final issue of "Test and Trials" to find out.

In Exiles the reality hopping team find themselves stuck between the Shi'ar and a conquer happy Earth! It's Sentry vs. Gladiator! Spider-Man 2099 vs. Reed Richards and the Cosmic Cube! With a fleet of starships gathering to turn Chandilar into a smoldering cinder and the Exiles too overmatched to turn the tide the cost of this battle will come at too high of a cost to achieve. And, as if they didn't have enough going on, the threat that Axel Asher seeks to escape looms closer and closer.

Hulk: Spectrum brings us a tale of the Indigo Hulk and allows us to peak into the dreams and art that only a hyper-intelligent behemoth can dream and create. When the Indigo sphere of the Hulk appears over Genosha President Pietro Maximoff dispatches X-Factor on their first mission to deal with the mysterious vessel. Of course, they're not the only group interested in the knowledge the Hulk possess...nor the only group that wishes to exploit it.

In X-Factor we bring to a close the first arc of the first team of Genosha as we're given insight into the struggling country's deals to help boost it into a prosperous future. Emma Frost digs her nails deeper into the team and Xavier oversee's the opening of the world's first X-Corps International international office.

And lastly in X-Men Unlimited we're given insight into the daily operations of the Anti-X-Men known as Weapon X and how exactly does this team of villains come together and the uneasy alliances formed all for the single goal of destroying the X-Men and everything they hold dear?

So...what are you waiting for? Go read some fanfic!!

The One Where The Raiders Beat The Steelers
Stewie Falls
[info]bhyphen

This whole 24 Posts thing was an utter failure. Maybe I can finish before 2 weeks pass. Sheesh.

The Raiders beat the Steelers tho! This is easily the highlight of our season. Probably the last 6 seasons. We've sucked horribly since we lost to the Buccaneers in the Super Bowl and wins have not been easy to come by. But since we put Bruce Gradkowski in over JaMarcus Russell, I feel like I'm a fan of a bonified NFL team again.

Don't get me wrong. I fully expect us to finish 4-12 or maybe 5-11 but the fact my team is actually playing their hearts out on the field is an amazing sight. It's enough for me to maybe stop wishing death on Al Davis. Maybe.

So I will sleep the sleep of a satisfied Oakland Raider fan tonight and hoepfully everyone else's sleep will be restful too. Unless you're a Steeler fan and worried about missing the playoffs after a Super Bowl win AGAIN. No shots. lol.

My First 100
Stan Lee
[info]bhyphen

I've been collecting comics since I was about 6 or 7 years old. I became a serious collector in the early 90's and was a steady buyer up until 1997 when The Clone Saga and my interest in basketball pulled me away. I began buying again in the early 2000's when I became interested in fanfiction and had to catch up on the current state of comics for both Marvel and DC.

I never had a consistent comic shop until I moved to Morgantown. There was one in Winchester, VA, but I didn't make it in there often enough to really call it home. Most of my books came from spinner racks. When I moved to Morgantown in 2003, I discovered a place called Gateway Comics. It was a really nice shop. Had it's comics side and a gaming side. Didn't reserve books tho. And the owner was an asshole. But it was the best shop in town so I guess he could get away with it. There was this one guy named Matt who worked there from 2003 to 2005 and he was really nice. Once Matt graduated tho, the costumer service just went to shit. I even had one guy (who never called me by name until this one moment) follow me out of the store to make sure I had put back all the comics I had been looking at. Never went there again.

Decided to give a new place by the name of Gary's Comics And More a try. It was awesome. They had a huge back issue selection, they let you reserve books, and the staff was super helpful. I would have never read Bendis' Alias if it hadn't been recommended to me on one of my first trips there. After reading the first trade, I was sold on the store. Shortly after I opened my very first reserve box and one of the first titles I put down was Amazing Spider-Man.

I had started picking up ASM at Gateway each month, but having a reserve box made all the difference in the world. ASM hit its 500th issue in 2003. It's 400th issue came out in 1995 so I expected a long haul before my first 100 consecutive issues.

Then One More Day happened.

Thanks to ASM being published 3 times a month (rather consistently), the gap between ASM #546 to ASM #500 was crossed rather quickly. And I, life long die hard comic book fan, had my first 100 issues. While this landmark may not be much to a lot of collectors who passed it in their teenage years or younger, it's kind of a big deal for me.

Thru great stories and bad, I've stuck with it. Without fail. While other titles were dropped or canceled, I hung in there. And I got my milestone issue.

I'm officially a fanboy. lol.

My Blogging Story
Spider-Sense!
[info]bhyphen

Too much food equals my idea for 24 Posts In 24 Hours falls flat on my face. But I'm still going for all 24 dammit!

I got started blogging because my best friend/partner-in-rhyme Matthew Spencer started a blog on xanga in 2004. Before then I had heard of blogging but never paid much attention to it. The reason I thought Matt's blogging was so great was because he lived in Pittsburgh and I didn't get to see him as much so having a window to his day-to-day was great for me.

In previous years, I kinda semi-blogged, tho at the time I would have called it updating my website. I would post the date and talk about the various things that had happened in the process of recording what I thought was going to be my R&B album Life Turned Into Music. I even had a section on my website that was about all the girls I had some kind of connection too. I wish I could find that page now, it would be a fun read for me to see what 20 year old me thought about certain girls.

The first blogging site I tried out wasn't even xanga tho. I had posted a few entries at another site that I can't remember the name of now, but those were soon shuffled over to xanga. I was a huge xanga fan tho, I had a nice little community of 10 people who I was guaranteed to ready my posts and comment normally and I would do the same. It was a really fun time.

But then people started getting away from it and soon Matt and I were the only ones who were posting. Which I didn't mind but at the time I started this blog and had been cross posting between my two accounts. Once I fell in love with the LJ community, it was a wrap for xanga. That and the fact they were making some God-awful unnecessary changes to the site. Matt still maintains his blog there but his twitter has basically become his blog.

I soon discovered I was addictied to making new blogs. I had this one, a fanfiction LJ, a random type blog called Hyphen-Verse that I created to try to streamline this blog, a music blog on LJ and xanga, and finally a music blog on blogger. The problem would be I would be into the blog at first but then it would eventually lay dormant. The last blog I axed was the Spideyville Unlimited music blog figuring I could just make this blog Spideyville Unlimited and post whatever the hell I wanted and no one would mind. Thankfully, no one has. lol.

Currently, I have this LJ, a video game blog where I blog about my gaming experiences, Hip-Hop Manifesto!!!: The Blog with Matt, and technically, I'm a blogger for a site called Class & Grime that's kinda died off. I don't think I'm opening any other blogs except to hold my new podcasts,. But who knows. I can say that blogging has become a ridiculously large part of my life and I'm grateful for it. I just hope it's easy to give it up someday. lol.

TV Marriages
Robin
[info]bhyphen

A month ago, The Office finally had Pam and Jim take the final step in their television romance by marrying them in the most hilarious (yet touching) manner possible. Watching it, I got choked up watching these two characters I've watched for years tie the knot. Then I tried to think of some other tv marriages I've seen over the years...

I couldn't really think of any.

Don't get me wrong, I've watched a shitload of tv in my 26 years, but nothing really jumped at me. Rachel & Ross never got (willingly) married. J.D. & Elliott haven't been married on Scrubs. Turk & Carla got married on Scrubs but since I saw the whole run after I saw random episodes where they were already married, no dice. Most of the shows I grew up watching already had the married couple like The Cosby Show and Family Matters. Or the couple never went all the way like Sam & Diane on Cheers. The one marriage that just came to mind was Whitley and Dwayne Wayne's on A Different World, but I think I was too young for that to have any impact.

It could go either way I suppose where some marriages are awful and some are perfectly done like The Office's. Or it could just depend on the person. Is there any tv marriages I'm missing?

Things get fiesty in The Defenders as the Heralds declare war...on each other! How do the Defenders propose to put an end to what could be a cosmically devastating battle and who's side will the Silver Surfer be forced to join? Meanwhile, back on Earth, Nighthawk goes to work at building his own team of Defenders to fill the void left behind by Strange, Namor, Surfer and Hulk...and to just prove a point that he's more than just a goof. Who makes Nighthawk's cut and who goes home?
It's the raging Green Hulk vs. X-Force in Hulk: Spectrum as the green behemoth is provoked into action by the malicious Damien Tryp and Brimstone Love who want a piece of the Hulk's DNA for whatever diabolical plans they're brewing. But as all sides will learn this isn't your ordinary Savage Hulk and they scramble to survive against a Hulk that only grows angrier and can't be calmed down.
Lord Plunder comes face to face with The Tomorrow Man in Ka-Zar and learns the unbelievable reasons for why Zarrko is stealing the Savage Land. Too bad it doesn't mean Ka-Zar knows how to convince Zarrko to return the prehistoric jungle back to the place and time it belongs. But as Zabu roams the crudely constructed patchwork jungle he will meet the man with the plan...a man who's hand a lot of time on his hands to figure it out.
In X-Force Alex Summers leads his covert team directly into the heart of Somalia to hunt for the dangerous Genengineer. But they're not the only ones out on the hunt as Ahab and his Hounds are hot on their trail with the intent to do some very bad things to the dark heroes.
Our band of microscopic heroes journey to the Micro-Verse in Yellowjacket to battle the Psycho-Man and prevent his deadly plans to destroy not only the Earth but the entire solar system as a tiny sun grows bigger and bigger in Central Park and those that were left behind, Cassie Lang and SHIELD, struggle to deal with the havoc the gravity from the star is wreaking. What genius plan will Hank Pym come up with to save the day?
...And there you have it. It's going to be a one update month for MA, but that only means that December will hold more goodies for us to make up for it.
So, go read some fanfic!!

In the second part of our Thanksgiving month spectacular, Tom and Derrick continues their chat with Views from the Longbox host — and Superman maven — Michael Bailey about Superman in the media! This time up, the trio tackles Superman in the movies. From the trendsetting Fleischer cartoons to the classic Christopher Reeve movies to the... ummmm... not-so-classic Bryan Singer version, this titanic trio tackles it all! Plus, the Superman films we didn't get (here's a hint: be happy we got what we got), Derrick defends Superman's right to stalk Lois, and Mike really doesn't like Kate Bosworth much... or at all. Plus a rant...only it's not from Tom! It's all about the whipped cream on the pumpkin pie, so get to clicking!

I was looking at my Google Docs (where I keep most of my ideas so I don't lose them and have access to them as long as I have internet) and was looking over my plans for Spideyville Unlimited. Lo and behold, the only feature I had written down thus far was for my homie Meuwl. It was mostly so I wouldn't forget that he agreed to do a song with me. Now I never will. Miss you homie.

The Day The Music Died (R.I.P. Meuwl) by Nick Cartmill
Jordan and Kobe
[info]bhyphen
My friend Justin's brother wrote this.

When I was still in high school (maybe 16 years old), I was sitting around on a boring summer day with some friends. I don’t remember exactly who was there, but I am sure at least Adam Searls and Tim Dover were there. We were bored and probably doing something stupid and listening to music in Searls’ basement. Something about the music made me ask who it was that was rapping. Searls told me that it was this guy named Sam who lived down the street and I couldn’t help but think “there is no way that this guy is from West Virginia, let alone South Charleston” He told me he called himself Meuwl. (Country Meuwl the first time I heard about him.)

There was something about the way it sounded, even though it was a rough recording, there was still this unexplainable star quality to the beat and the lyrics, a drawing power. I heard one song, and I was hooked. Time passed, as time has been known to do, and the legend of Meuwl grew (At least in my head it did). My head was filled with stories of he did this or he said that and I had heard so many of his demos and rough CDs without ever meeting him that I believed he surely only existed in myth. Eventually, I became good friends with John, Meuwl’s younger brother. Through John, I eventually met Meuwl.

You know how some people say, “The man is never a good as myth,” or something like that. Well, in this case those people are wrong. None of the stories I heard did him justice. From the instant I met him, I liked him. Charismatic and funny don’t even begin to describe Meuwl’s personality. It was like he was so full of life he radiated it and by just being around him some of that life would escape into you. These first few times I met him were in passing. Crashing at his house when I went to Morgantown with John, once. Passing him in the kitchen of his mom’s house in South Charleston. Random encounters, that only helped to build the legend in my head.

Over the years, Meuwl’s name, to me, became synonymous with the West Virginia music scene. If a friend came to visit or I met a new person, they had to go to a Meuwl and B-Rude show. If I knew someone appreciated good music, then they had to hear the Rabble Rousers. There simply wasn’t anything like them around, and definitely nobody as talented. The legend in my head kept expanding. He became synonymous with music.

It wasn’t until years later that I actually became friends with Meuwl. I don’t know why, but I was surprised to discover how much depth he had. One of the only friends I have had that would wax philosophy or some abstract point of life with a beer in his hand. He wasn’t above the inane, as one might think, but that is part of what made him so fun to be around (Robot butt love springs to mind, if you don’t get it don’t worry it isn’t as bad as it sounds). While he might have had a little attention span at some points, when Meuwl talked to a person he made them feel like they were the only person in the room. He was a personality that couldn’t be denied, and it was impossible not to love him. His legend growing evermore. Even after knowing him for a few years, I still had this childlike hero-image of him floating around in my head.

Meuwl died, on Thursday, November 5th, 2009. When I was told, I remember thinking to myself, “This can’t be true. This has to be a joke or something.” The shock of his death, left me blank, stunned. The strangest thing was that the only thing I could think of was a line from the old Don McLean song “American Pie.” I thought, “This is the day the music died.” I didn’t think it was possible. He had seemed invincible to me. Charleston suddenly seemed like a very bitter and silent city. But it was true. While I am still having trouble believing he is gone, a part of me realizes that while the man might be gone, his legend will continue.

Those of us still here will never forget him. He was one of the most talented people I have ever met, and the world surely lost one of its stars yesterday, leaving the sky just a little more barren. But we can always remember what he did while he was here. We can remember how he made us smile, or laugh or how he got groups of metal heads to bounce to some rap. We can always carry the song of his life in our hearts. A person like Meuwl can never truly be gone, because he left such an impact on so many people. Our only jobs now are to learn to live again, and to strive to be as happy as he would want us to be.

Found out this evening that my good friend Sam "Meuwl" Harshbarger passed away. Not only was he one of the greatest MC's in West Virginia history, he was a great person that brightened the world with his presence. A class act. You'll be truly missed my friend.

It's become a tradition--around Halloween, The Boys Outta Brooklyn always pick three horror films you might not have considered when planning your movie marathons for the spookiest holiday of all...and now that tradition comes to Earth-2.net! Derrick chooses three films from the 70's including one of Steven Spielberg's first and a creepy guignol tale featuring a young Jodie Foster, and Tom chooses such gems as a high school ghost story and a 'documentary' that follows an aspiring serial killer as he plans his night of grue! It's a six-pack of sinister ideas--plus some suggestions for a second feature to make those choices even more fun--so get to clicking!
