From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you for your love, affection, support and friendship as I cope with Lisa's passing. I've said it before, but I cannot say it enough, your kindness matters and it makes a difference. 2012 has been without a doubt the worst year of my life, but it would be so much worse without people like you in my corner. The grieving and recovery are just beginning, but I know I am not alone in the journey.

With deepest appreciation and love,
-O.

P.S. As long as you keep doing what you've been doing, I'm going to keep saying what I've been saying. Peace.

P.P.S. If your eyes pass over this, will you please link to it in your own LJs (not FB). I ask simply because many of the people who reached out to me aren't on my friends list, but they may be on yours. Thanks in advance.

In the morning, I'll be leaving LiveJournal. I'm gonna consolidate this blog with my Blogger one at http://thehyphenconglomerate.blogspot.com/. It's been a hell of a run. Thank you all. Check out my Tumblr too for a bunch of random photos. I'll miss my LJ. But it's time. I think I'll smoke a black and listen to the most recent BITD to mourn in the AM.

Project#3: Writing/Directing Films/Television

In the few times I've had experience with acting, I've enjoyed it but never to the point that I felt like I was destined to be in front of the camera. I've always felt like you can be yourself more through music; I've never had a desire to play different characters my whole life. However, considering my writing background I've always had an interest in writing movies and that desire has graduated to directing.

I'd say the urge first hit me a few years back when my friend Ed Brown and I were pretty much inseparable. We always joked that we would write/direct a comedy movie (hopefully none of my readers find this offensive) about a homophobic homosexual. For some reason the idea of hating the very thing you desire cracked us up. And while I'm sure that idea will never come to fruition, that hasn't stopped other ideas from coming to me.

I'd say my favorite directors would be Robert Rodriguez, Quintin Tarantino, and Kevin Smith simply because they are responsible for some of my favorite movies. And I know that most people think Smith is a hack but I absolutely love his open and honest style about everything, not to mention his movies. Tarantino's dialogue is amazing. It may be my favorite part of Death Proof and Kill Bill vol. II. And I'm a huge fan of Rodriguez' work on Sin City and Planet Terror as his action is always so over the top but beautifully rendered at the same time. So that kind of gives you a bit of my influences.

As far as current ideas I have:

1. Comedy about a shoe store. After working in one since 2008, I'd be crazy not to put some of the things I've seen to paper. Of course I'd change names and hope no one figures out what is what and who is who...

2. Romantic comedy. Now after everyone is finished groaning, I think I could write a damn good movie considering how many of these things I've seen thanks to Angel. I'd try to tell a compelling story where love accidentally happens all while trying to avoid the standard rom-com peaks and valleys. It be worth a shot...or it could be my Jersey Girl, who knows.

3. Action comedy starring Gregg Clark. I've known Gregg for a few years now and he's always come off as the silent type. But after working with him for a few months, I've realized he's more of the Chuck Norris type: a dude who carries himself with a supreme confidence who may or may not break your hand depending on his mood. Of course I exaggerate but the guy is perfect fodder for an action comedy trilogy. This would probably be the first thing I'd write seeing as how it would come to me so easily.

4. Misc. There's pretty much nothing I wouldn't take a shot at making aside from horror since I'm really not a fan of the genre. I'd also like to try my hand at hour-long TV series as the idea of having a long running serial has always appealed to me as well. Maybe even a sitcom run but I wouldn't expect that to last long as I'd run out of ideas quickly.

But another day, another project named. Hopefully coming to a screen near you.
